Looking at a clean used slip-on. Besides the clamp and link pipe, what small brackets, gaskets, or spacers tend to turn a bargain into a parts hunt?

Ask for a photo of every loose part next to the manufacturer's installation sheet. Spring hooks and model-specific spacers are easy to overlook.

    Maintenance before modifications.

Budget for a fresh exhaust gasket if the joint uses one. Reusing a crushed gasket caused the leak I spent a weekend chasing.

Confirm the exact model year and whether stock passenger-peg brackets are required. Similar-looking link pipes can have different angles.

    Smooth is fast enough.
