Looking for a two-hour Frederick-area loop that keeps speeds reasonable and avoids spending half the ride at traffic lights.

Smooth is fast enough.

    An early weekday start has worked best for me. I plan fuel conservatively and treat shaded corners as a different road surface.

    Check the state road and forest-service notices the same morning. Seasonal damage and temporary work can make last month's route advice obsolete.
