How late into spring do shaded East Canyon sections normally hold sand and runoff? I will check current closures; looking for local seasonal experience.

An early weekday start has worked best for me. I plan fuel conservatively and treat shaded corners as a different road surface.

Check the state road and forest-service notices the same morning. Seasonal damage and temporary work can make last month's route advice obsolete.
