Quarter-turn hardware is great for a track bike, but for street bodywork I prefer the original mounting design and a dab of silicone grease on rubber pieces.

Weekday mornings have been the calmest in my experience. I still plan the route with a fuel buffer and assume shaded sections may be damp.

A fitted tail-bag base under the passenger seat has worked well. All buckles stay away from painted panels and the bag clips off at fuel stops.
